Spotify Heritage Appreciation
This system of illustrative posters highlights the vibe of a song and the artist that is, also, in a playlist dedicated to the month of heritage they are apart of and give viewers a deeper dive into Spotify’s more illustrative and artistic quality to express and amplify their values of creative expression. Overall, the goal is to provide viewers a look into the emotion and subject matter of songs they may not know of in other cultures and encourage them to explore not only the playlists, genres, and many amazing artists’ in them but where their imagination takes them.
"No Me Queda Mas” is a song by Hispanic-American singer, Selena Quintinilla-Perez where she accepts emptiness and sadness as she lets go of an illusion of true love and romance. This poster calls to the betrayal, hurt, and hopelessness instilled in her serenade to a loss lover . The use of the roses in this piece also pays homage to the singers favorite flower and symbol.
"Traveling” by African-American artist, Luke James, sets an overall, feel-good, intimate, and vulnerable tone where a scene of taking a trip to where-ever with whoever that special someone is, is emphasized and infectious.
"Dreamer” by Laufey, a Chinese-Icelandic singer and multi-instrumentalist, is set in the clouds of the artist’s dreams, fantasies, and safe-space as she looks down on her unsuccessful attempts of love and accepting isolation rather than tears.
